It's alot of fun to read.

This manga series, is beautifully written. It's got the right amount of awkward teen angst, comedy, combined with lots of action and an unspoken romantic subplot. Its too bad that it's unfinished but hopefully that will change soon! I really want to see where these characters go in the future!

Fantastic Fun for your child and you!

We love to read this book over and over again! The hilarious pictures result in added comments. My son is able to put himself in Little Critter's spot and loves the part about the "furcut". Once again Gina and Mercer Mayer give us a wonderful book to share with our children!

Not our favorite Little Critter book.

Mercer and Gina Mayer, This Is My Body (Golden Press, 1993)

We have now gotten to the point where we've read enough Little Critter books that I can generalize that I'm not as fond of the ones Gina co-wrote as I am of Mercer's solo outings. This Is My Body is probably the best of those we've read, but it's still a cut below most of the solo books. Critter talks up some of the parts of his body, mostly facial features, plus arms and legs, and relates them to the family. There's some amusement value to be had in Critter's antics, as usual, but by the time a child is ready for the Critter books, you've probably covered this ground in any number of other books aimed at slightly younger readers. ** �

About the Author

Emil E. Malizia is professor, chair, and director of the dual degree program, department of city and regional planning at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He has extensive research experience in the areas of urban, rural, and regional development and redevelopment. His writings have appeared in the Journal of Real Estate Practice and Education, Journal of the American Planning Association, and American Journal of Health Promotion.

Edward J. Feser is professor of urban and regional planning as well as agricultural and consumer economics in the department of urban and regional planning at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the World Bank, the US Economic Development Administration, and multiple state and local agencies. His writings have appeared in Regional Studies, International Regional Science Review, and Economic Development Quarterly.

This book is a classic tale of a boy's rise to heroism. Set in a low fantasy world, it tells of the brutal trials he goes through, while still managing to hold onto his humanity. A solid first entry in what promises to be an epic series.

Excellent read

This is true epic fantasy - the hero's tale. Really enjoyed following Brann in his adventures in this first book of a promising heroic journey. I was drawn in immediately by the excitement of the tale. I enjoyed meeting his new companions and this led from one exciting scene to the next - making it a fun, fast read.

The only reason this is 4 and not 5 star is that I hope the next book in the series will be a bit more balanced gender-wise. And in spite of this, I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series.

A swashbuckling epic for anyone who loves historical fantasy

A swashbuckling epic for anyone who loves historical fantasy. This is the story of Brann, a boy who loses his family after one terrible day when raiders attack his village. What follows is life as slave on an unusual ship captained by a mysterious man who seems to have engineered the raid that destroyed Brann's village and his life.
The ship's crew eventually disembarks at a town where a Viking-like people warn the captain and crew of horrifying raids and murders in the land. When two of Brann's friends/fellow captives are captured by the brutal mercenaries carrying out these raids, Brann and the town chieftain's son set out to rescue them and uncover a traitor to the town's chieftain.
The story of Brann's life is interspersed with memories of a mysterious man who seems to be a ruler and has a connection to Brann. As Brann learns what it means to be a hero through the people who befriend him, he realizes how strong he really is. Brann is a charismatic hero whose adventure will continue and whose destiny might not be a happy one.

Extremely good book - not an easy read

We used this book for a six week course in organizational design and got through the entirety of the book in those six weeks. This text is well-written and provides good examples but it is a very slow read since the material is so dense. At times the writing style seems dry but I have learned a lot using this book and it is very informative. Well worth its steep price.

WOW AMAZING!!

Lonely Planet's Great Adventures is perhaps the MOST beautiful and thrilling travel books I have ever seen. I loved pouring over the amazing adventures within its over 300 large sized pages, almost all of which have breathtaking, full-color photographs of some of the most difficult places to get to in the world. The intrepid athletes of every kind who have made it to these one-of-a-kind earth's wonders (and the fearless photographers who had to make the trip along with them and carry immense equipment) have shared their challenges and routes with us in fabulous, thrilling detail. There are hiking, diving, biking, climbing, water, canyoneering, boating, rafting, rowing, driving adventures and more. The images are gorgeous, all making me wish I could do every single one of these adventures. But don't be daunted by these temptations, which few could afford or physically manage, because this terrific book has a list of books for armchair enjoyment for each of these adventures, in addition to this excellent book you will want to read from cover to cover again and again. If you want your family to get interested in geography and other people and places around the world, or if you want to appreciate the various environs of our planet, GET THIS GREAT BOOK!!!!

fabulous photography, incredible adventures around the world

Truly, this book captures adventures for a lifetime, whether you take them or not, you'll love each page's text and photos, breathtaking just like it's title. The introduction by writer Ben Fogle sums adventures up sheer adrenalin one experiences.

Great Adventures are ways we go after our beloved planet Earth in chapters on hiking, diving, biking, Above and Below ( canyons and caves), Climbing, Ice and Snow treks, Animals, Water, and Drives; an amazing collection, that covers the world, well organized too, and easy to follow.
Let's take under Rafting the Amazon in the Water chapter. Huge photograph greets you on opposite page showing the serpentine river, with snake shaped color against the green forest, a block of Essential Experiences tell us Feeling the rush of rafting one of the top 10 rivers in the World, tasting Peruvian cuisine, learning the history of Machu Picchu. Details of the adventure by days from 3 - 11 depending on how big of adventure one seeks, next page has Armchair Traveler thoughts like movies filmed in the area for adventure like Fitzcarraldo ( great film I remember ). Yes, a map is there too, so you can easily see where it's happening.

Flipping through the book, is eye candy for the soul, beautiful and fun, adventures and possibilities, this is a cool book to savor. I loved reading it.

i like this book because of the beautiful pics. the reason i LOVE this book is because it has reference points for each location so you can learn more, be an armchair traveler or find a hotel and GO there. i checked it out from the library but will buy one for myself and for my son. FOR THE AVID TRAVELER OR DREAMER THIS BOOK IS A MUST.
